Announcement:

KEEP OUR WATERS CLEAN

• Only use fertilizers, herbicides and insecticides when absolutely necessary and never if rain is coming or within 12 feet of the water’s edge.

• When boating, bring back what you take out.

• IF YOU MOVE YOUR BOAT FROM LAKE TO LAKE, dry out your boat for a least two days or wash down the hull with tap water before launching again. Flush the engine cooling system, bilge areas, and live wells with tap water. This prevents the spread of Eurasian Millfoil, a lake weed that is very invasive and difficult to remove.

Personal Water Craft

• Current State of CT boating regulations prohibit the use of  a personal watercraft at speeds in excess of Slow-No-Wake within 200 feet of the shore, dock, pier, float, or anchored or moored vessel, unless said PWC is enabling a person engaged in water skiing to take off or land.

• Keeping the above in mind, Staffordville Lake is less than 450 feet in width in many parts. The exceptions to this are the North end of the lake and the Southern quarter of the lake. Therefore for most of the lake's length, it is is only legal to opperate a PWC above Slow-No-Wake speeds in the very middle.
  

• Also from the CT boating regulations: No person shall operate a PWC while towing a water skiier unless,
• The PWC has a capacity of at least three (3) persons, the operator, the observer, and the water skiier.
• The PWC must have a minimum overall length of 119", a minimum overall width of 46", and a minimum overall seat length of 39".
• The PWC must have handholds at or near the rear of the seat suitable for use by a rearward-facing observer.
• There must be an observer age 12 or older facing the skiier at all times.

Ok, better than anything else we have going on, Michael and Tricia Finch got some great pictures of a bald eagle on Staffordville Lake. It really is the lake and the wildlife that brings us all here isn't it? Check out the pictures here.
